You don't want to know.  I even have the game they're playing all figured out.  It's kind of like checkers, bit different.  You move three squares in one turn, divided however you like among your chips.  The chips are all two-sided, and when an opponent lands on your square (or you land on theirs), you flip it to its "bad" side.  If it's landed on again or you move it to a spot occupied by another player's chip, you loose the piece to your opponent.

"Emperoring" was something invented by Peony.  If he makes it to one of the four corners of the board; he gets two of his chips back.
